Contribute to the History of Alaska Native Education

Link to the Kiana Project

We hope this initial set of documents and images will encourage others to contribute additional images and information about many aspects of Alaska Native education not currently represented.

Some of the photographs on this site may include your family members, friends or perhaps locations that you recall. We hope you will take the time to record your memories, dig out additional photographs, and add to the general knowledge of Alaska Native education. If you would like to share your recollections, documents, first hand essays, interviews, photographs, or other materials, please let us know and we will work with you on how to do that while protecting and returning your original material. You can do this by contacting Paul Ongtooguk by e-mail or telephone or mail at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Institute of Social and Economic Research, 3211 Providence Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99508; telephone: 907-786-7710.
